What is ETL (Extract, Transform, Load)?
A data integration process that extracts data from source systems, transforms it to fit business needs, and loads it into a destination system.
ETL is a foundational concept in data integration. Extract pulls data from source systems via APIs, database queries, or file exports. Transform cleans, validates, and converts data to match the destination format - this might include data type conversion, field mapping, deduplication, and applying business rules. Load inserts the transformed data into the destination system. Modern integration platforms handle ETL automatically, but understanding the concept helps in troubleshooting and optimization.
